Hello Guys, today I want to share 5 tips about how to brew gongfu tea. If you follow them, the tea that you brew will definitely be tastier.

  1. It is best to warm the teaware with boiling water before brewing, by doing so, the aroma of the tea leaves can be easier stimulated afterwards.
  2. I’ve noticed that many people will just grab the tea leaves by hand and put it in the tea pot. Our hands are actually contaminated with a lot of bacteria [bækˈtɪriə] and moisture, which may lead the deterioration of the tea. I’d recommend that wash your hands first before brewing and use tools to take tea instead of hands.
  3. Some people say that good tea is not afraid of being brewed by boiling water, well it is very wrong to think in that way. There are many types of tea, you can’t brew all of them by using the same boiling water. It really depends on the nature of the tea. For example, green tea and white tea such as silver needles should be brewed at the temperature of 85 degree Celsius or 185 degree Fahrenheit to avoid scald the tea buds. When brewing black tea, using temperature like 90 degree Celsius or 194 degree Fahrenheit, otherwise the tea will become sour.
  4. Do not brew tea with the water that have been repeatedly boiled. The iron and calcium in the water will continuously increase by doing so, which will cause chemical reaction with the tea polyphenols in the tea leaves and destroy the aroma.
  5. Don’t soak the tea leaves in the water for too long, because excessive content will precipitate, which makes the tea liquor taste bitter. So these five tips, have you got it?
