Chinese Zodiac tea pets are small figurines made of ceramics in the shape of animals, that accompany you while you drink your tea, which is believed to bring you good luck. In Chinese astrology, each zodiac animal has certain features.

The traditional Chinese calendar features a cyclical dating method that repeats every 60 years, aka sexagenary cycle, which is overlapped by the Heavenly Stems and the Earthly Branches. Zodiac and Earthly Branches are in one-to-one correspondence.

Each year of the Chinese Zodiac is represented by a different animal: the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig.

Horoscopes were developed around animal signs to predict personality traits and destiny. Each animal is known to have certain characteristics that a person born under the sign would demonstrate. The year a person is born determines their animal sign. For example, a person’s animal sign is a tiger if they were born in the year of the tiger.

The Rat (1972,1984,1996,2008 etc.): quick-witted, smart, charming, and persuasive

The Ox (1973,1985,1997,2009 etc.): patient, kind, stubborn, and conservative

The Tiger (1974,1986,1998,2010 etc.): authoritative, emotional, courageous, and intense

The Rabbit (1975,1987,1999,2011 etc.): popular, compassionate, and sincere

The Dragon (1976,1988,2000,2012 etc.): energetic, fearless, warm-hearted, and charismatic

The Snake (1977,1989,2001,2013 etc.): charming, gregarious, introverted, generous, and smart

The Horse (1978,1990,2002,2014 etc.): energetic, independent, impatient, and enjoy traveling

The Sheep (1979,1991,2003,2015 etc.): mild-mannered, shy, kind, and peace-loving

The Monkey (1980,1992,2004,2016 etc.): fun, energetic, and active

The Rooster (1981,1993,2005,2017 etc.): independent, practical, hard-working, and observant

The Dog (1982,1994,2006,2018 etc.): patient, diligent, generous, faithful, and kind
