Top 10 famous teas of China

Hello guys, today I want to talk about the ‘top 10 famous Teas’ in China. In 1915, first Panama International Exposition held in San Francisco, the US. Chinese tea won 21 gold medals in total. From then, the list of so called ‘top 10 famous teas of China’ was born. On that list, 6 green teas have been selected. They are Hangzhou West Lake Longjing, Jiangsu Bi Luo Chun, Huangshan Maofeng, Luan Guapian, Xinyang Maojian and Duyun Maojian. One black tea, the Keemun black tea from Anhui was selected. Two oolong teas, the Wuyi rock tea and Tie Guanyin were selected. One yellow tea called Junshan silver needles was on the list as well.

You may wonder why there’s no White Tea and Puerh Tea. It is because these 2 types of tea have just developed and become known for people in recent years. The classification of white tea is not mature until the 1960s. For Puerh Tea, there are still many arguments and no clear classification on it until now.

In recently years, there have been another 3 versions of the top 10 famous teas in China from different organizations. However, the difference is not so big compared with list from Panama Expo. The Panama Expo list is still considered as the most powerful version among all of them.
